WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16) released the following statement on the six month mark of the war with Iran:

“We’re now six months into a war President Trump promised would last six weeks. By the Pentagon’s own estimate, it has already cost taxpayers $37.5 billion—a sum that could house every American experiencing homelessness for roughly four years.

WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16), and five of his  House Financial Services Committee (FSC) colleagues, introduced the No Preferential Release of Federal Information for Transactions (NO PROFIT) Act, a bill that would bar social media companies from offering faster, subscription-based access to government employees’ accounts that communicate material information.

Redwood City, CA — Today, Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16) testified at the San Mateo Board of Supervisors meeting, partnering with the board, as it takes steps to restrict the development of detention center facilities in unincorporated San Mateo County. The County, with leadership from Sup. Noelia Corzo and Sup. Ray Mueller, is the first county in California’s 16th district to take such action. 

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressmembers Sam Liccardo (D-CA), Jason Crow (D-CO), Don Bacon (R-NE), and Maria Salazar (R-FL) introduced a bipartisan bill to protect Afghan allies from deportation. After the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Department of Homeland Security granted more than 9,000 Afghans Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to seek refuge in the United States. Many of these individuals served alongside U.S. forces, making them particularly vulnerable to Taliban retaliation if deported.  

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027 (NDAA) which would give the Department of War $1.15 trillion in discretionary spending.
